Pink – Perfect (Boyce Avenue acoustic cover)

Made a wrong turn
Once or twice
Dug my way out
Blood and fire
Bad decisions
That’s alright
Welcome to my silly life
Mistreated, misplaced, missundaztood
Miss “no way it’s all good”
It didn’t slow me down
Mistaken
Always second guessing
Underestimated
Look, I’m still around…

Pretty, pretty please
Don’t you ever, ever feel
Like your less than
Fuckin’ perfect
Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like your nothing
You’re fuckin’ perfect to me

You’re so mean
When you talk
About yourself
You are wrong
Change the voices
In your head
Make them like you
Instead
So complicated
Look how big you’ll make it
Filled with so much hatred
Such a tired game
It’s enough
I’ve done all i can think of
Chased down all my demons
see you same

Pretty, pretty please
Don’t you ever, ever feel
Like your less than
Fuckin’ perfect
Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like your nothing

You’re fuckin’ perfect to me
The world stares while i swallow the fear
The only thing i should be drinking is an ice cold beer
So cool in lying and I tried tried
But we try too hard, it’s a waste of my time
Done looking for the critics, cuz they’re everywhere
They don’t like my genes, they don’t get my hair
Stringe ourselves and we do it all the time
Why do we do that?
Why do I do that?
Why do I do that?

Ooh, pretty pretty pretty,
Pretty pretty please don’t you ever ever feel
Like you’re less then, fuckin’ perfect
Pretty pretty please if you ever ever feel
Like you’re nothing you’re fuckin’ perfect, to me
You’re perfect
You’re perfect
Pretty, pretty please don’t you ever ever feel like you’re less then, fucking perfect
Pretty, pretty please if you ever ever feel like you’re nothing you’re fucking perfect to me

never know – Jack Johnson

i heard this old story before
if people keep appealing for the metaphors
don’t leave much up to the imagination
so i wanna give this imagery back
but i know it just ain’t so easy like that
so, i turn the page and read the story again
and again and again
it just seems the same
with a different name
we’re breaking and rebuilding
and we’re growing
always guessing

never knowing
shocking but we’re nothing
we’re just moments
we’re clever but we’re clueless
we’re just human
amusing but confusing
we’re trying
but where is this all leading
we’ll never know

it all happened so much faster
than you could say disaster
wanna take a time lapse
and look at it backwards
from the last one
and maybe that’s just the answer
that we’re after but after all
we’re just a bubble in a boiling pot
just one breath in a chain of thought
the moments just combusting
feel certain but we’ll never never know
just seems the same
give it a different name
we’re begging and we’re needing
and we’re trying and we’re breathing

knock-knock on the door to door
tell ya that the metaphor is better than yours
and you can either sink or swim
things are looking pretty grim
if you don’t believe in what this one feeding
it’s got no feeling
so i read it again
and again and again
just seems the same
so many different names
our hearts are strong
our hands are weak
we’ll always be competing

never knowing
shocking but we’re nothing
we’re just moments
we’re clever but we’re clueless
we’re just human
amusing, confusing
but the truth is
all we got is questions
we’ll never know

people come and go, don’t they? I suppose I ought to get used to it. But, I am still not.

Good people – Jack Johnson

Well, you win:
It’s your show now,
So what’s it gonna be?

Cause people
Will tune in;
How many train wrecks
Do we need to see?

Before
We lose touch, oh
And we thought this was low…

Well, it’s bad,
Getting worse, oh
Where’d all the good people go?

I’ve been changing channels,
I don’t see them
On the T.V. shows

Where’d all the good people go?
We’ve got heaps and heaps
Of what we sow

They got this,
And that,
With a rattle-a-tat

Testing –
1, 2
Man, whatcha gonna do?

Bad news,
Misused –
Got too much to lose

Gimmie some truth now
Who’s side are we on?

Whatever you say –
Turn on the boob tube,
I’m in the mood to obey

So lead me astray
And by the way, now –
Where’d all the good people go?

I’ve been changing channels
I don’t see them
On the T.V. shows

Where’d all the good people go?
We’ve got heaps and heaps
Of what we sow

Sittin ’round,
Feelin far away,

yeah

So far away,
But I can feel the debris

Can ya feel it?

You interrupt me
From a friendly
Conversation

To tell me how great
It’s all gonna be

You might
Notice
Some hesitation

‘Cause

What’s important to you
Is not important to me

Mm mm mm mm…

Way down
By the edge
Of your whole reason

Well, it’s beginning to show
And all I really wanna know is
Where’d all the good people go?

I’ve been changing channels
I don’t see them
On the T.V. show

Where’d all the good people go?
We got heaps and heaps
Of what we sow

(Where’d all the good people go?)
They got this,
And that,
With a rattle-a-tat

Testing –
1, 2
Man whatcha gonna do

Bad news
Misused
Gimmie some truth

You got too much to lose
(Where’d all the good people go?)
Who’s side are we on?

Every day
Every way
Okay –
Whatever you say

Run the resolute,
But in the mood
To obey

Station to station
Desensitizing
The nation

(Where’d all the good people go?)

Goin, goin, gone…

on repeat.

My friend and I who are in the office are of the impression that the birds outside our office forms a choir.

This is my third nano – the 6th gen. This one was bought online at a slight discount during the aussie boxing day sale. I still have the 1st gen, and 4th gen nanos I believe.

Both have served me really well. In fact, they still work! The only reason why I get new ones is that the battery life just doesn’t last me through a long run anymore.

Well, at least it’s my intention to run again this year, at least hitting the half marathon distance I left off at. But, first, let me lose a few more kgs first. I can multi-task but I can’t focus on that many things at one go.

who says!

I hate it when people sterotype me into a category, and think they know all about me when they don’t. I may have been “vocal” on facebook, not quite recently. But, whatever it is, that does not mean you know all about my life. The only people who comes close to knowing a lot about me will be friends I have known from Singapore. After all, how long have I only been here?

Sometimes, I feel like the PhD student with a rebellious streak. So, who says I can’t be what I want?

Who Says
Who says I can’t get stoned
Turn off the lights and the telephone
Me in my house alone
Who says I can’t get stoned

Who says I can’t be free
From all of the things that I used to be
Rewrite my history
Who says I can’t be free

It’s been a long night in New York City
It’s been a long night in Baton Rouge
I don’t remember you looking any better
But then again I don’t remember you

Who says I can’t get stoned
Call up a girl that I used to know
Fake love for an hour or so
Who says I can’t get stoned

Who says I can’t take time
Meet all the girls in the county line
Wait on fate to send a sign
Who says I can’t take time

It’s been a long night in New York City
It’s been a long night in Austin too
I don’t remember you looking any better
But then again I don’t remember you

Who says I can’t get stoned
Plan a trip to Japan alone
Doesn’t matter if I even go
Who says I can’t get stoned

It’s been a long night in New York City
It’s been a long time since 22
I don’t remember you looking any better
But then again I don’t remember you
