Nobel Prize anyone?

It’s minutes away from the announcement of the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences.

It seems like yesterday when the 2009 Nobel Prize was announced. I recall being in the office with a few other colleagues, maybe MAU people. I recall how we sent out an email, starting a chain of replies of how “ashamed” economists are when an American political scientist won the prize. It wasn’t so much of whether she was “deserving” of the prize. Rather, it was a slap in the face for us economists, who actually majored in economics.

Honestly, it’s anyone’s guess.

The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2010 was awarded jointly to Peter A. Diamond, Dale T. Mortensen and Christopher A. Pissarides “for their analysis of markets with search frictions”.

Nice! In this course I am doing, we were just covering this topic on “search models”. Now, that’s highly relevant! 🙂
